Boise

Bogus Basin:

This is a downhill, lift access, mountain bike park! Super neat place that’s only about an hour drive from Boise. There was only 2 technical trails open at the time and the rest were variations of flowy jump lines. Do be warned that during the summer months, the ground is extremely sandy. Deep sandy spots, especially in berms that can cause some issues at speed if not prepared for them. Otherwise, this is a pretty neat place! Rentals, food, drinks, and good times. Food was okay, but about what you’d expect from a small ski resort.

New to This: (Green)

This trail was pretty mellow and smooth. Had a few short and small techy bits and definitely some fun little pops you can take advantage of for some extra pizaz! Good for beginners and still fun. Gets ridden a bit less so during those dry summer months, it isn’t nearly as blown out and sandy. It ends on the road, but its all downhill back to lift and is a very short ride, so don’t get scared off by it not ending at the lifts.

Marshmellow: (Green)

A great beginner jump line. Fast big berms with some table tops.

Space Nugget: (Blue)

This trail was so blown out and riddled with such deep sand (I’m talking felt like riding on the beach) that is wasn’t particularly fun to ride then. However, berms looked well built and jumps looked fun. Probably a blast in slightly less dry conditions.

Foxtrot: (Blue)

A pretty short but fun techy descent. Extra hard with the deep sand. Basically just fish tailing all the way down but was still fun. A couple of drops and pops to hit mixed with some decent berms.

*G-19: (Black)

Being a fan of tech trails more than jump trails, this was my favorite trail here. It had fast sections, chunky sections, steep bits, drops, sketchy rock rolls, and a bit of exposure. Features are definitely a bit larger. But it is really fun. It is very difficult to ride currently with the deep sand, but also made it fun oddly. Definitely was a recipe for some “WTF” moments and laughs!

Eagle Bike Park:

This was a super fun and super cool little bike park located just 20-30 minutes from Boise. There are numerous options here. Everything from easy, wide, smooth trails to slopestyle jumps to technical descents. Climbing here is super easy and the trails are fun. This is the type of place you can come and watch yourself make progress day after day and simply spend hours hanging out here with friends. There is a pump track, big table top session lines, slopestyle jumps, wall rides, drop zones, skills areas, slalom courses, water fountains, and honestly so much more. I can’t speak highly enough of this place and the work the trail builders have put into building and maintaining it.

Rabbit Run: (Green)

A very wide and smooth beginner trail. It wraps around the park and is an XC trail, but is also used to climb to the top section of the park to access some of the longer downhill trails. A very mellow grade and very good and easy climb trail.

Return Ridge: (Green)

This is another easy climb trail but is definitely steeper than Rabbit Run. Use this to avoid the water tower road if you want.

Water Tower Grated Road

An access road that Rabbit run and a few other trails branch off of. My wife and I agree this was our preferred way to climb to the top here. Just link the road to Rabbit Run for a quick easy climb.

*Flow: (Blue)

This trail is a blast! Very fast with some super fun little tables and poppers. There is a really neat bridge roll into step up. Super fun and easy to clear if you stay off the brakes coming off the bridge. We rode this trail a couple times and were grinning every time. We rode this the same day as Bogus Basin and where Bogus was very sandy and blown out, Eagle was very well packed down and solid.

**Shake n’ Bake: (Black)

This was my favorite trail here. There as a handful of decent sized drops, big berms, rock gardens, and some steep fast sections. One of those trails that’s got it all and made it work really well together. There are optional lines to make things a little extra difficult and all the features have ride arounds. This is a perfect trail to judge your progression on as well as build up your confidence with.

Hell Mary: (Blue)

This trail is near the top of the the Water Tower Road climb. Has some huge sweeping berms and big table top and step up. The berms are well built and can practically be sideways in them! A blast of a trail. Literally!
